Hi All,
I am a leaf owner whose lease expires in a couple of months. I am getting a fully loaded 2015 b class 49k+ msrp for $1000 down and 375 w/ tax in the Bayarea California. Is this a good deal. I have a couple of months of time so can wait.
Please advise. Thanks.

If the rest of the money is all dealer contribution, and you get to pay only $1000 down followed by $375 every month over 3 years, then it sounds like a very good deal. To be honest, I don't believe the two numbers. Are there hidden fees somewhere? Are you sure the $375 include your rent charge plus California sales tax?

Do the math, starting with the MSRP, minus some reasonable dealer discount, minus $7500 federal tax credit, plus CA sales tax, a few fees, minus a residual value slightly higher than 60% of the original capitalized cost after 3 years. Divide by 36.

I didn't have much negotiation margin for my 2015 BCED I custom ordered, MSRP 47k, less $2500 discount, less cap cost reduction, resulting in a net capitalized cost of 36k. The lease I got was MB's standard lease over 36 months - slightly over $500/month, including taxes and all fees - no hidden fees, still more attractive than paying a standard car loan over the same term with a downpayment equivalent to the lease residual value plus my $4000 lease downpayment.

In researching, I noticed folks across the US will get very different lease formulas. The advertized and extremely attractive lease from mbusa may not necessarily be available for all B Class models in the Bay Area, especially given the higher demand in the Bay Area and its expensive standard of living.

I believe for any 2014 B Class you will get a much "cheaper" lease than for the 2015 model.

Thanks for your reply. This is what the dealer is telling me. Anyways I plan to go in and see for myself.

Hello,

I shared my lease info in the other "lease" thread. You might have to adjust my figures since I am doing 15k lease which has lower residual value. For 2015, I think 1k otd and around 375 with Cali tax is right and a good deal. I did mine for 1k otd and around 400 with Cali tax with 15k/year. With 12k, you should be at 370 range. Note, my car is 49.5k and my guy is Andrei at Rusnak if you ever need a socal dealer.

See you in a MB BEV soon.

Thanks. The msrp is 49140 on mine. I am going in today to see if this is true. He is only offering this on a blue one he had originally quoted me on. Just hope the car has no issues. Between torn between this and the cpo tesla @59k. By after crunching numbers, the b class is a no brainier :)

For sure. I was thinking of Tesla originally but mb BEV is too good a deal. BTW, there should be no problem at all, blue is a little more difficult to move from both dealers I worked with but is def a eye catching color. If there is a problem, or another color you like, you can work with Andrei and he would make it happen (he's very good but I don't want to become an advertiser... Haha). Best of luck.

Update: Went in and got a 2015 9 miles driven 49k msrp for 374 w tax with $1000 down. The dealership was great to work with. They pitched $650 for the first 2 services. Worth taking them up on the offer? The car is fantastic to drive. One concern I do have is that it doesn't have a timer to start and stop charging. If any of you have ideas, I am all ears. I was so used to that on my leaf. Rest of it is a major upgrade. Thanks for all your help!

I'm getting the exact same deal. I had my local dealer at 2k down and $360/month, but liked your deal better and was able to get them down to that. Same 49K msrp, 2015 in white, pretty sure it has zero miles, it still had all the shipping packaging on it.

I'm coming from a Chevy Volt lease, there's some things I'm really excited about, but a few things that feel like a small step backwards (non touch screen, analog speed/efficiency dials, lack of programmable charging just to name a few), but all in all, I'm really excited.

Cppike, cool good luck! Let me know if you decide to go with the prepaid service plan. I have time till tomorrow to get that in. Overall I am happy with the car. The main thing is it is true to mileage unlike the leaf where if you step on it on the freeway you could lose 5 mile range in a minute. I guess I'll discover more...

Hope I'm not hijacking but curious what kind of service this car needs? And at what intervals that would require two $300+ services?

Thanks

If you are a DIYer the OpenEVSE can have a timer. That is what I use. I normally charge late at night.

If you have an existing EVSE several have used a pool type mechanical timer. This works but to me it is a klunky solution.

One of the EVSE manufactures (Charge Point or Clipper Creek?) also offers a timer.

By the way, I was happy with my leaf but I like the B Class much better. I hate the ugly wheels on my 2014 but not enough to spend big bucks on new wheels.

I was wondering about service as well, the only thing i could think of was brakes, but the engine is my brake (until i've regenerative braked down to about 10 mph)

I don't know but the service cost is in the $299+ range. I am planning to call the dealer tomorrow and find out. The service manual does state the services though as if you are leasing I think you would need to keep the car serviced. I'll find out more and post back.

I have read through the A & B service routines and the only "real" service is to change desiccant cartridges for the HV battery. If I can figure out how to do it and it is relatively simple I will post it here. The rest of the stuff are just minor checks that you would see in the day to day operation of your car. (i.e. Check Horn Function, Check Exterior for Damage?). You should rotate the tires. I have a locate tire shop that does this for me for $20 in 10-15 minutes. I agree you will not need brakes for this car with the regen braking.

Personally, I don't think there is $300 of work there. Paying $300 is the equivalent 6 hours of work @ $50 an hour. I don't see it unless the cartridges are very expensive. The checks listed should take about 15 minutes. I am someone who generally does most of my own work on my cars. For others here, the calculation could be different.

So I spoke with a couple of local dealers. The service A is $295 includes cartridges, battery check up and other stuff. The service B is $495 includes brake fluid replacement. The labor will be a huge part of this bill but that is true with every dealer service. In any case, the services are expensive but that is what you get when you buy a Benz vs. Leaf :)

Para benz and cppike, what dealerships did you use? And how was the negotiating? Thanks...

I actually picked mine up today at House of Imports. 2015 in white msrp of 49K. I did almost all of the negotiating via email and this forum really helped me make sure I was getting a good deal. I know I could've done better with a 2014, but I really liked a few of the new features on the 2015. Feel free to pm me for the details.

Folks

I'm shopping for a 2015 b class electric...pls share SF Bay Area sales rep & dealer info....I tried couple of dealers and they don't seem to be familiar with these deals discussed on this forum.

thanks
Deccan

Deccan - The BCED sells a lot better in California, than it does on the East Coast. Also the demand is probably higher. The country wide MBUSA advertized deals are at the discretion of the dealership, and in the South Bay Area you may not get a deal close to these figures, but more likely a lease with a ~$100+ higher monthly payment. In case you get a really attractive lease, I would be curious of what you end up paying.

From what I observed, these cars go very quickly, so if you find the model you really like, you may have to decide quickly.
