Is JuiceBox Pro Charger Worth It?

This whole thread reads like an AI lovefest. IDK where all this praise for JB is coming from. Enel-X bought out the original JB founders a few years back, and last month they pulled the plug on their US operations with about a week's notice, leaving thousands of JB units out of service, as you...

    Mercedes B Class Coolant Delete

I have not seen how the LDU is installed in the MB; I own the RAV4 EV equivalent, which is a (mechanically) nearly identical LDU, and like the MB's is a FWD modified version of early RWD Model S: Toyota & MB flipped the LDU around "backwards" to make it fit better for FWD operation, replacing...

    Mercedes B Class Coolant Delete

If the stator was rebuilt, that is a very good price. Drying out or rewinding/repotting the stator is by far the most expensive repair one can do on an LDU; usually, it's not attempted because a replacement stator (and the gearcase half it's glued into) can be procured for less cost than...

Just wondering what Transmission fluid should use

The Tesla LDU requires a quality grade ATF; the GM Dexron VI is spec'd, but it a very simple set of gears and any lubricant meeting the Dexron VI spec will work. I used one of the AMSOil versions. I believe it's a 50k R&R, but there's a big honkin' magnet inside (as well as a magnet on the...

Has anyone else tried DIY maintenance for Mercedes B-Class?

Tesla didn't incorporate a desiccant into the Model S/X packs at all. Moisture intrusion and retention in the HV pack is a fairly common issue on those cars, with corroded BMB boards and voltage sense wires being common when the batteries are opened up for repair and service. OTOH, MB spec'd...

    Error message on my B-Class

NE Portland: Alex Bessinger WattWorks 8750 NE Emerson St. Portland, OR, 97220 +1 (971)-444-5064 [email protected] He is an extremely experienced RAV4 EV and MB B250e tech, and has kindly put many vids on YT about various issues with them. He repairs and rebuilds the LDUs (Drive Units) on...

    B250e Battery Questions

Cool weather (below around 50°F ?) triggers the HV battery heater to turn on, which is a several kW power draw all by itself. Even if you forgo cabin heating, that battery heater alone will cause a reduction in range. But the cabin heater is a major power draw as well, if you use it. A/C, not...

Issues with LED Brake/Turn Signal Bulb Replacement – Any Suggestions?

There can be all kinds of side-effects of replacing incandescent lamps with LEDs. Here's another one: on a 90's car I used to own, the transmission ECM would not allow OD (or would disengage OD) if the brake pedal was depressed, and it sensed that via monitoring the voltage on the lamp side of...

    Is a 2014 B-class really worth only $3,000 ?

The "coolant delete" process eliminates liquid cooling of the rotor. It also eliminates the troublesome rotor seal, the cause of most of the most-expensive LDU failures. Telsa is now supplying Reman LDUs with their own coolant delete solution . . . but you can't buy their part to convert yours...

B Class turning on but not changing to Drive or other gears

For the Toyota version of the LDU, there are no brand-new drive units; Tesla only supplies Reman units to Toyota for repair/replacement. I'd love to hear that MB customers can buy actual new LDUs, though. The Tesla Model S-derived LDUs are failing at a faster rate now, of course, as they've aged.

    Another Bad Motor-Class Action

Revolt in Arizona, or QCC in San Diego are the ones I know that have expertise with these units and are closest to you, but I do not know if Revolt does the weep hole mod, nor do I know if they plug the vent on the rotor end cap at the same time (which should be done IMO). See the excellent...

Highest driven milage of B class electric

I did the coolant delete via DIY on my RAV4 EV -- which has a DU largely the same as the B250e -- a few months ago, and I installed a LDU rotor temperature monitor. I have never seen above ~230°F so far, and today with temps in the 70s, highway driving (55) for 70 miles, the rotor showed ~160...

my 2014 B Class is a lemon, HUGE ripoff

The Model S/X has no dessicant in the HV battery case. MB added that feature to their implementation. Toyota installed a small, noisy, low-volume air pump (not a fan) on the top of the battery case that runs during charging, presumably to circulate a small amount of air through the battery...

    Is a 2014 B-class really worth only $3,000 ?

And, the US hasn't had 220v since around the 1930s; it's 240v split-phase supply for residential. --- Does the B250e's onboard charger ("OBC") suffer from random GEN1 AC input fuse failures, as do the Model S and RAV4 EV? Or, does the B250e use the GEN2 OBC? If anyone has a picture of the...

    Malfunction go to workshop

Sigh. jjo, you sound so confident when you state this. I wish that you'd read around on the Tesla LDU more before making declarative statements like this. Original info here, where I recently wrote (regarding the similar LDU in the RAV4 EV): --- . . . unless you drive in states that use road...

If you discover the Blue Drops of Death on the speed sensor after the first IC warning, and you address it promptly (ie have a third-party disassemble the LDU, remove coolant, replace the rotor bearings (and pinion gear bearings, according to jjo), and have the rotor seal replaced -- or, better...

    Broken B250e

My advice: don't join Tony's private forum on FB. He won't participate elsewhere due to criticisms on his ongoing business . . . problems. He only works on the Tesla parts of the B250e, and you'll get excellent advice from the Tesla and RAV4 EV communities that won't involve having to deal...
