I’ve been having a strange issue with my B-Class Electric Drive’s AC system, and I’m hoping someone here might have some insight. When I start the vehicle with the AC on, there’s a loud grinding noise that seems to increase with the RPM throughout the drive.
If I turn the AC off using the AC off button (without turning off the fans), the noise still continues. However, if I turn off the fans completely (by setting it to the 0 position), the noise stops. Interestingly, if I start the vehicle with the AC off and then turn it on during the drive, the sound doesn’t appear.
Has anyone experienced something like this? Do you have any idea what might be causing the problem? I’m hoping to get some advice before taking it to the shop.
