YouTube has a ton of videos and in one of them it shows taking off a sensor to check if there has been coolant intrusion into the motor. The shop in Portland OR does a lot of seal work when they rebuild these motors so that they will not leak again. Almost everything regarding a RAV4 EV is...

Has anyone else tried DIY maintenance for Mercedes B-Class?

More penny pinching. Desiccant for many applications can be restored in an oven or microwave. I have a container to keep my hearing aids dry and the instructions are to use the microwave for 30 seconds and check the color. Can this be done with the MB BEV desiccant bags?

From the manual: Desiccant cartridge replacement

My MB dealer just has an annual service for $135, not A & B like for ICE MBs. Of course the dealer wants to do add ons like wiper blade, brake fluid changes, etc. for more $$. I buy my wipers at Costco and change them myself, don’t do brake fluid changes until my meter tell me the water content...

Has anyone else tried DIY maintenance for Mercedes B-Class?

To do all the inspections of the suspension and steering links (I use a giant sized slip pliers to check the ends for wear) you need the car off the ground. My MB dealership charges $135 to do this. Then comes all the add-ons, Brake fluid, wipers, cabin filter, etc. and the bill goes way up. To...

    problem with my 2014 B-250E

See for a repair facility in Oregon and one in California. Thread titled: Error message on my B-class https://www.mybclasselectricdrive.com/threads/error-message-on-my-b-class.2376/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2024-10-18&utm_content=daily_newsletter#post-9743

No B250 Badge on My B-Class Electric Drive

I believe in the US the 2014-2015 are known as B Electric and the 2016-2017 as the B250e.

    Another Bad Motor-Class Action

Yes, my daily driver is a 2015 B-electric with the Tesla driveline. In nine years and 45K miles it has only had one repair for a battery heating element. In retirement this is perfect for 99% of my needs. To pull my travel trailer I have a 2013 MB ML Bluetec that just turned 100K miles last...

Re YouTube… see Alex the EV Repair Guy… great videos (two part series) on the removal & repair of the RAV4 EV that is very similar to the B250/electric. Alex is in Portland OR

    Another Bad Motor-Class Action

Ronan: There are several videos on YT about the MB B250 and the RAV4 electric motors and repairs (essentially the same system). I contacted one of the presenters and they knew of a repair facility just a few miles from my home. From what I can see on the videos almost any good mechanic should be...

    Another Bad Motor-Class Action

That is the cost to replace not repair. The two seals, bearings and labor is $1K-$2K to complete the repair. A repair shop can also put a weep hole in the case the coolant leaks again. Note: the weep hole needs a one way valve so water cannot enter the unit while driving.

Do American B-Class ED have these features?

After the run was finished in 2017 no further updates to the software were made. One pedal driving with the sensors on the B is a software issue as is active CC. Same with maps, the last update being 2020 or 2021. The map issue is overcome if you have Apple Car Play or Android Auto.

    Is a 2014 B-class really worth only $3,000 ?

You need a 50 amp circuit (USA, this is two 120VAC circuits) that is only used at 40 amps (in the USA circuits max out at 80% of rating), controlled by the battery controller in the car. This is the max the car can charge. This is about 11+ miles of charge per hour to start and then trickeling...

my 2014 B Class is a lemon, HUGE ripoff

There is no A & B service for the B electric. Here in the US a service costs me about $140 at the dealership. Ask you dealer for a printout of the two services, go to your maintenance book or online. Now the dealer will also try and upsell you to wiper blades, brake fluid change, etc. Last time...

    Broken B250e

I would get a detailed description of what they are doing. Usually this is a transmission problem not a motor problem. Usually cleaning out the sludge is replacing the seals and the two motor bearings unless there has been sludge intrusion into the battery. See oiher posts on this Forum and...

What did you do with your b class today?

It is our runaround car with a 60-80 mile range depending on the weather. Ninety-nine percent not of our use is less than 10 miles, doctor, restaurant, shopping, etc. Been perfect for the last seven years. Biggest complaint are the horrible maps that are no longer updated and no software...

    B250 Owner's reliability experiences

Exactly why I buy lease returns with a service history and normally about 50¢ on the dollar. I have never purchased a new MB and have avoided several lemons.
