I recently purchased a 2016 250e and it has Apple Car Play enabled, but I have an android phone. Is there a way to switch to Android Auto, other than having the dealer do it? I've already read the posts on enabling it in the first place with that OBD plug in. Would you also need that to switch to Android from Apple?

I had the dealer add CarPlay and Android Auto as I have an LG and my husband has an iPhone. The car recognizes which phone is plugged in and pulls up the appropriate interface. I wasn't aware you could get only CarPlay. Are you the original owner? If not, maybe someone bought a CarPlay hack but not the Android Auto hack.

I'm not the original owner. I purchased the car a couple of months ago and it already had Car Play enabled. Nothing happens when I connect my S9 to it, so I'm assuming it's not enabled. If you don't mind my asking, what did the dealer charge you to enable both Car Play and Android Auto?

JimG,

If you are a car DIYer, you can look into eBay and YouTube to acquire the activation module and instructions. Not aware of anyone that has done it so buyer beware.

Seems simpler to let dealer do it, as it seems quick, it should not take more than 15 minutes of labor. Ask them and let us know. I would like to try it in mine as I currently go through Alexa Auto via Bluetooth.
